James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes an enemy of God.

If you are a Christian then you should store your treasure up for heaven. That means you live life in a way that is honoring to God. There should be nothing in this world that is more important. We live in a time where money and greed rules. Selfishness and self serving acts are common place. It is an all about me attitude. This even infects the church. It is ashamed that most churches look no different than the world around them.

God uses the example of adultery in this situation. Hosea, in the old Testament, is called to marry a prostitute by God. He uses Hosea as an example of how the people have treated Him. Of course Hosea’s wife goes back to the life he saved her from. Just like Christians fall back into the sin God saves them from. Flirting with sin and the world, is a risky business.

God has cried out from the beginning for us to follow Him. He wants us to live our lives seeking holiness. This is not to say we should think we have to be perfect. This just means when we fall in the mud that we should not wallow, but get up and get out. How do we do this? We seek forgiveness and repent. We can only do this though when we have a personal relationship with him.
