Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned and saw under the sun that, the race is not to the swift. Nor the battle to the strong. Nor bread to the wise. Nor riches to men of understanding. Nor favor to men of skill. But time and chance happen to them all.

Solomon was the wisest man, outside of Jesus, to ever walk the face of the earth. He achieved and accumulated. He built great buildings and had queens and kings of his day to come and visit him. He experienced everything he thought he wanted to experience. But with all his wisdom he looked around and knew none of what he accumulated and achieved mattered.

He saw other men and women who were wise not have riches. Men of skill who built his buildings fell out of favor. Smart and good men went hungry. In other words, life was not fair and what happened on this earth, apart from God, made no sense. Good people suffered and bad people thrived. He could not account why in his human wisdom.

When Solomon turned back to God, he understood. This world is under control of sin. Sin ruined everything and he realized how much sin he had committed. His heart sunk and he repented. Now if the wisest man outside of Christ fell to sin, how much more do we? The only truly good thing we have is the love of Jesus. He seeks us out and wants a relationship.

Jesus came as a man, walked in the flesh, yet he did not sin. He was guiltless, yet he accepted the punishment for our sin. He created life, yet he gave His for us. Seek him today and find true wisdom. He is awaiting you.
