James 4:13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit: 14. whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Man plans and God laughs. This is an old saying with a lot of truth. We can plan our day from minute to minute or our life from year to year. But what good is it if we do not ask for guidance from the One who holds our very breath in His hands? We are being very presumptuous when we do this.
There is nothing wrong with us planning for our futures. This is not the point. The point is we were created to have a relationship with the Almighty Creator. When we do not include Him in our plans then we are being prideful. We are showing Him we think we are gods of our own lives. When truly we are not in control of anything.
Truly, life is short. Think back on how quickly you have gotten to the age in which you are now, Fast, right? The point of this all is to say our time should be spent seeking Jesus. Growing in Him and fulfilling the call He has on our lives. If you have not already done so, seek Him today. Tomorrow is promised to no one.
