1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because he laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Do you know what love truly is about? In and of ourselves we can not know true love. It is above what our flesh would allow. We, even as Christians, deceive ourselves with the folly of this world. We worry about our wants. What we can obtain or achieve. This is not the example Jesus has left us.

He laid down everything for us. Think of what he left to come to this fallen world. He left His Father’s side in the greatest place we could imagine, Heaven. And He came to sacrifice Himself so we can be with Him in glory. This is true love. Love that sacrifices its wants and desires to help another person. To tell them about the One that can save them from their sins. But to also help them in their hour of need; whether that is to hold a hand in time of grief or to give them a helping hand with cleaning their house.

Love is tender, love is kind and love does not envy. Today take the time to show the love that has been shown to you. Jesus gave all the love possible. Follow His example.
