Psalm 146:7 Who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

What is true freedom? On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. This declaration formally declared the thirteen American colonies independent from Great Britain. This led to the constitution of the United States of America. This outlines the rights we have as Americans. This is the second greatest writing in history.

I would like to tale time today to thank the men and women who served in our military to keep us free. But I would also like to say our freedom is not true freedom. True freedom is given to us by Jesus when we accept Him as Lord and Savior. Even in our free state as Americans there is oppressed people. There still are hungry kids and adults. This freedom, though it is the best form of government in history, is not the real deal.

One day those of us who have given our souls to the One True God will know what freedom truly is all about. It was guaranteed by the One who gave His life for us. Sacrificing everything for us because he loves us that much. Do you celebrate Him the way you celebrate holidays like the fourth? We should everyday we are able.
