Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a foundation of life. To turn one away from the snares of death.
The fear of the Lord is necessary to understand who we are in comparison to a Holy God. Holiness in today’s society has been forgotten. God is. This is a powerful statement. God is love, just, sinless and goodness. These are just a few of His attributes. Sin cannot be in His presence. Our good works are dirty in His sight. This is a snapshot of what Holy means.
Our foundation of life is the knowledge of God’s holiness. The benefit of this knowledge is to understand where the absence of His holiness is death reigns. Sin is what leads to this death. Death physically and spiritually is the result of sin. Life comes from seeking God. Good things, truly good things are a benefit of a relationship with Him.
What are some of these good things? Mercy, grace and forgiveness. These are some big ones. Forgiveness of sins is available through the acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord and Savior. Through His mercy from His sacrifice of Himself on the cross for us. Grace abounds after these, which allows for us to have a relationship with Him.
