Psalm 42:2 My soul thirst for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Thirst. Have you ever thirsted? I mean truly thirsted for a sip of water. Here in a little town in South Georgia the temperature was 97. The humidity was not far behind the temperature. Being outside for even a little time draws a lot of fluid out of your body sweating. After some time there is an almost animalistic desire to drink water. It is ingrained in us to preserve our bodily functions, so the desire for water runs deep.
The question I now present to you. Does your soul thirst for a relationship with God this way? In John chapter 4 Jesus tells the woman at the well that He is Living Water. If you drink from Him you will never thirst again. Is this physical water He talks about? No. He is talking about spiritual water. Do you truly thirst for this spiritual water? Does your soul feel so parched and dry that it would go after this Living Water?
There is a time for all things. Birth, marriage, kids and eventually death. No one wants to face death but do you desire to be in the presence of the Almighty? Is it an instinct like drinking water when the body becomes thirsty? This is difficult to understand for those who do not have a personal relationship with Him. But it is real. Begin a journey today if you do not and truly seek the One who offers the Living Water. I promise the desire to drink from it will overwhelm you.
