Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, And he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
A fly in the ointment ruins your day. Which part of the day is it ruining? Day or night? Darkness is the absence of light. If a person is full of sin, he is full of darkness. If a person is full of righteousness, he is full of light. Light and dark do not mix. Neither does sin and righteousness.
Solomon points out the fact that the unjust or sinful man is the fly in the ointment to a righteous man. Someone righteous can not tolerate the sinful. Their way is stinky and revolting to him. Their works seek to drag others down when the righteous seek to uplift. Confusion reigns in the life of the unjust. This is intentional, because when confusion comes bad outcomes happen.
The same is true of the unjust or sinful man. He can not tolerate a righteous person because there is a lack of confusion. Righteous people are orderly. They seek good outcomes for themselves and others. The environment is biased for the unjust to take advantage of others. The sinful will flee this like the dark flees the light.
What makes the difference between the two types of men? The knowledge of Jesus. Jesus is the light of the world. He is the one that makes darkness flee. Have you encountered Him? Have you fled His presence or taken in His warmth? The answer to this question is the difference between day or night.
