John 9:6 When He said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.

We learned in the last lesson this blind man had no sin and that his blindness was for the glory of God. God was working in this situation to show His power. We have a problem with the way we view God. We think that He should work in the way we think he should work. In other words we put Him in our box.

The first sign of this was when Jesus was asked what sin this man’s parents had committed. His blindness had to be from sin. The second way we put God in our box is the way in which He works. Jesus spit on the ground and put it on the blind man’s eyes. We read this and think this is weird. But this is God showing us that His ways are different than ours and so much higher.

Today as you read this I would like for you to think about the ways that you think God should work. Now ask yourself why you put Him in there. He is so much wiser and bigger than we could ever imagine. Now think how you are going to destroy the box you have created.
