Galatians 2:19 “For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.”

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” – Mae West.

This is an interesting quote. But it does lead to an interesting question. How do we do life right? From the scripture it teaches us to understand the law that leads us to Jesus. What is the law? There originally were ten found in Exodus 20. Then the Jewish people added over 600 more. The problem is we can not even keep the original ten!

Paul made an interesting statement here in Galatians. He said, ” I through the law died to the law.” This is a confusing statement. How can you die through the law? This is essential for you to understand. The law was made for us to realize that we cannot keep His commands. So the realization that we cannot keep them leads us to the understanding that the law kills us. This is the true purpose of the law. It is to understand we need a Savior.

So to do life right we need to know the law of God. Then we need to realize the law kills us spiritually. From those realizations we learn we need a Savior. Who is that Savior? His name is Jesus. He is the Son of a virgin. He was all man and is all God. He hung on a cross and died taking all of all sin upon Him. He died and went to the grave. But on the third day he arose from the dead and now is at the right hand of the Father.
