James 4:7 Therefore submit to god. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Submission to God is absolutely required for salvation. Submission is giving up all our wants to follow someone and something greater. Our desires often lead to strife in the first place. We read in verses 1- 6 in James 4 and learn about pride and lusting. This is our wants. They led us into wars and fights. Not good places to find ourselves.

He is King and Creator of all things. He is not a tyrant, He is a loving God. So, submitting to Him leads us to a better place. If this were not so rebelling would be good. But this is not the God we serve. He makes us a better version of who we tried to be before meeting Him. This is the point, He has been trying to show us since the beginning. He wants us to be more like what He created us to be.

Living in submission to Him helps us grow to be holy. When we become more holy by seeking Him, reading His word and praying we resist the devil. In other words we resist living for the flesh, seeking our pleasure. Living in submission to Jesus causes the devil to flee. Which allows us to draw closer and closer to Him.

So my prayer for you today is that you will submit to Jesus’s Lordship over your life. That by doing this you will become more like Him in your daily walk. Be blessed today.
