Romans 9:20 But indeed, Oman, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?”

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people. And, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”-C.S Lewis.

Pride is a terrible disease when it is allowed to run unchecked. People start to treat other people poorly. They spend time plotting ways to better themselves at the expense of others. In other words they look down on them. Think they are less than and do to them whatever they want.

This happened in Israel and Judah before they were invaded by the Assyrians and Babylonians. God told the rich and powerful they ground the bones of the poor and He was disgusted. Remember, we are made in the image of God and he blew His breathe into our lungs. But His chosen people had let themselves fall into the pride trap.

We today are some of the most prideful people ever. Just look on social media and you will find plenty of examples. There are less confessing Christians today in America than in previous generations. Why? Because we are so prideful that we are like the people talked about in the above scripture. We have forgotten who formed us and made us what we are.

What are we to do? First, we should repent. Then turn back to God. Live out the instructions He gave us from the bible. Understand this. It is a terrible thing to be in the hands of an angry God. Just love God and love people.
