Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
Propitiation is one of the most misunderstood but most generous words used to describe what Jesus has done for us. It means to appease or to divert wrath. Jesus appeased the Father by placing our sin on Himself and diverted wrath we deserved onto Him. What greater gift can we deceive than that?
The power of darkness is used to describe Satan. He was once an angel who was designed to reflect Gods glory back to Him. He became prideful and wanted to be God. Due to this he was thrown from heaven by an Archangel. He was given the authority over this world because of our sin. He comes to kill, steal and destroy. Are you starting to understand why we needed Jesus to deliver us, to be our propitiation?
Through this we can come to know Jesus as Savior. We were created a little lower than the angels. We were designed to need and have a dependence for God. Sin was introduced and the road we used for our dependence on Him was blocked. He came and made a new way. It is our choice not to know Him.
But when we do choose Him or better said accepting His love of us. Then His guarantee is stamped on us. We are then conveyed into His Kingdom. We are treated better than we could have ever imagined. Do you know Him? Today is the day. Take the time to reflect on what He is telling us.
