Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

Blessed, the word is defines as fortunate, happy or having good things in life often with a religious connotation. In other words, God gives wisdom and if we use it we are happier, more fortunate and are given good things. Sign me up!

Where do we find the ability to receive these gifts? From the word of God Himself. We have the opportunity everyday to read it and learn His way. Now this is a choice. If we choose not to then the likelihood of being blessed is greatly decreased.

What can we learn? Where to not look for counsel. If we listen to ungodly people then we become ungodly. Sleep with dogs then you get fleas. What else do we learn? To stay out of the path of sinners. A train is cool but if we stand on the tracks then expect to be flattened. Sin will flatten your hope.

Where does the bad lead? To being scornful. Scornful means to be contemptible toward something. You become hateful and regretful. This is the path of people who do the opposite of what God tells us. Drawing closer to Him helps us grow into what we were intended to become.

Here is a challenge. Start today and commit to honestly reading His word for a month. Follow what is being taught and look back afterwards. You will be surprised how much better your life will become.
