Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

The shield of faith, a true weapon of defense. So important in Roman times that the Phalanx formation was created. Soldiers stacked the shields to protect from arrows and swords. It also allowed for them to move forward in an armored formation. It is what allowed them to conquer the known world.

The shield was vital for this. Also, the soldiers would wet their shields to protect from fiery arrows shot by the enemy. When the arrow hit the shield the fire would be quenched. In the same way our faith is our defense from the fiery darts of our enemy satan.

How do we build this shield of faith? First we must have faith to ask for forgiveness of sin from Jesus. Then we are to trust in His death, burial and resurrection. Then read His love letter to us. The bible. Then use prayer. These are the steps. They are tried and true.
