John 13:16 “Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is no greater than his master, nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.”

Having a servants heart is a rare gift. The majority of the world thinks of themselves worthy of being served. Have you recently went to a restaurant and sat down to eat? Have you noticed the way waiters and waitresses are treated? It is usually not very nice. People want to be masters of their world. To show their power they treat others poorly.

The problem with this is they do not treat other humans with basic dignity. They don’t recognize or even care that we were made in the image of God. In order to make themselves feel greater, they treat others as lesser. This is dangerous. When others are considered less their life is worth less to the powerful. Many tragedies have come because of this philosophy.

The Jewish people were slaughtered because they became less than in the eyes of the Nazi. Communist viewed others with a different mindset lesser. Millions lost their lives in the Soviet Union and China. Just imagine; thinking of others as less than, led to such great tragedies.

Jesus came to show the value of the soul of man and woman. God in human form showed love to us. He valued us so much He died to save us from our sin. The next time you come across someone who could be considered less than; according to the world standard, be kind. It is following the example of the Master!
