Matthew 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

The world would say, temptation may tempt, but determination conquers. It is the philosophy of self-determination. We tell ourselves that we can pull ourselves out of any hole. We can overcome by shear determination. We are just fooling ourselves with that line of thinking.

The only true way to overcome temptation is through seeking Jesus and His power. Jesus said it best in this verse. And do not lead us into temptation. That would mean that we are following the will of the Father. Our eyes are on Him and He is steering us away from the temptations that would entrap us.

He goes further, but deliver us from the evil one. There is but one way to be delivered. Through the grace of a loving God. This was supplied to us with the sacrifice on the cross that Jesus made. If you want true deliverance, then seek Him. Otherwise you are left using your own devices to overcome an infinitely smarter and craftier enemy. May God bless you with the wisdom to choose HIm.
