Mark 14:9 “Assuredly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”

The Word of God is preached on a daily basis. That means every day two-thousand years later the woman who anointed Jesus’s feet with oil is being spoken about. This is truly a radical and mind changing moment. Women in this day did not do such a thing. Especially to a Rabbi.

This radical act could have gotten her beaten or even killed. You have to remember in this time women had no rights, they were viewed as property. You still see this today in places in the Middle East. So why would she take such a risk? Why would Jesus allow her to do what she done?

Why would this woman take such an expensive oil and anoint his feet? Because she had an encounter with Jesus and was forgiven of her sins. She realized what she had been forgiven of and never got over that moment. She understood that from that moment forward, she would spend the rest of her life never having to fear punishment. She would never have the fear of being rejected for the sin she committed. She knew she would be in the presence of Jesus for evermore.

Jesus came to die for all humankind. This included men, women, different races of people and different nationalities. This was a revolutionary concept for the Jewish culture. Jesus was the first one to promote women’s rights. He also healed the blind, lepers, the deaf and those that were the outcasts of society.

Now think of the weight of what we have just talked about. A sinful woman who had been forgiven. A loving Savior who came to save the world from sin. The impact of what she done still being spoken of today. The impact of what Jesus done saving untold millions from death and punishment. My only remaining questions. Have you responded to His call as she did? And do you worship the Savior like her?
