2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory
Working out our faith in fear and trembling. That is what we are called to do. How are we supposed to carry out this command? Through stumbling blocks, headaches and persecutions.
The gospel is real and truthful. The more you soak in its words, the more you see that it tells us life isn’t going to be easy. We will encounter sin with which we will struggle. There will be people who will become our enemy. Then there is the work we are called to do.
This combination will sometimes seem overwhelming. But compared to the glorious reward we will receive one day, the affliction is light. Jesus promised to never leave or forsake us. The Holy Spirit is in us. They also lighten our burden.
Take time today and reflect on the afflictions Jesus has brought you through. Then praise Him for his goodness to us. What awaits us in glory is so much more than the affliction we could ever face!
