James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Have you ever prayed and felt as if your words were not listened to? You ask and do not receive. Why? Maybe you have sin in your life that you haven’t dealt with. Maybe God knows you are only thinking about yourself.

Whichever reason, the question remains why? Why do you ask out of selfishness? Why do you ask knowing that the sin still abounds in you? Isn’t this life and others lives more than selfish desire?

We know it is but we are covered with flesh. The flesh wants its desires. We give into the desire and sin abounds. Why do we think God will answer us in that state?

When you do ask forgiveness and repent, God listens. In His time but He listens. Then we we look back, we thank Him for not giving us our request. Because we can see that that would have driven us further away from Him. God is good. Ask forgiveness and draw closer to Him.
