Galatians 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of the faith?

Have you ever heard someone in church say, I have to do this because….. . This is a common thing among Christians. Some how we think we have to work for it. We have to add to the work of the cross.

This is a form of thinking caused by the law. The Jewish people took ten laws and added to them and ended up with over six hundred laws to follow. No one could even keep the ten God gave us!

Are you saved by your works? Surely not. Jesus paid it all when he hung on that cursed tree. You are saved through your faith in him. Nothing more and nothing less. If you think you have to work you are saying the cross wasn’t enough!

Jesus is the only way. There is nothing you can do to change that. What needs to change is your understanding of the amount of love you are loved with. He voluntarily paid the cost of your sin. Accept that through faith and realize there is nothing left for you to work toward. Just grow closer to Him.
