Hebrews 3:8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of the trial in the wilderness.

The Israelite’s were brought miraculously from Egypt, through the Red Sea into the wilderness. Right before they entered the Promised land they sent in spies to survey the land. Ten out of the twelve sent in the land came out doubting. They didn’t believe they could accomplish what God had called them to do.

They rebelled and God put them through forty years of a wilderness experience. During this experience he put them through trials. He did this to build there faith and cleanse them from the affect of Egypt on them. This is an important part of the journey of faith.

When we get saved there is often a thought that everything will be peaches and cream. This is far from the truth. We are put into our own wilderness journey. It seems painful going through this but looking back we can see what God worked out of us.

God knows when He saves us that we are not where we need to be spiritually. He loves us too much to keep us in the same situation He saved us from. The wilderness journey is a journey to cleanse the sin from us. To build us up.

When times seems tough remember, He is using the trials as a cleansing and building up tool. Be faithful to His plan and you will draw closer to Him.
