Mark 4:5 “Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.”
Seed need to be planted to produce fruit. Spiritual seed is the same. First, we must spread seed everywhere we go. Then God will make it fruitful if the soil is good. The soil is a very important part of the process.
The soil in our lives is our wants and desires. If these are focused on the world and what it has to offer then our soil is shallow. Shallow soil isn’t prone to supporting good seed. In fact, the seed sprouts and when the heat comes it withers and dies.
This is why it is important to tend the soil and till it to make it deeper and fertile. Spiritually speaking, people who disciple are the people who are helping to till the spiritual soil. It is a very important process to make seed into a luscious and fruitful plant.
If you are new to the faith and want to grow, then find a discipleship program. Find a person who is willing to help you know Jesus better. But the most important thing is having a relationship with Jesus. Find Him then find a small group and grow.
