1 Thessalonians 5:2 “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.” This verse reminds us of the brevity of life.

The brevity of life. It is known well. Most peoples greatest fear is of death. This fear drives us either in a positive or negative way. Life is lived for selfish gain or with a servants heart from these drives.

Whether you have had a long life with a graying head and a worn-out body, or you are in your twenties with no worries, tomorrow is promised to no one. How do you want to be known? Do you want to be the selfish person or the servant?

Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin. That was the most unselfish act of all time. He did it out of His tremendous love for us. He is coming back as The Lion of the Tribe of Judah. This means those who refused Him are judged.

If you are living the selfish life, you have not received Him as Savior. This means being banished to a place created for Satan, hell. If you have accepted Him and are living like a servant you have heaven awaiting you.

Coming like a thief in the night means we don’t know when He will split the Eastern sky and call us home. We also don’t know whether we breathe our last breath and die. Either way it comes quickly. Are you ready to meet Him? It is my prayer you do.

If you do not know His loving kindness, pray that He shows you who He truly is. Open your mind to the fact He loves you enough to have paid the price for your sin. Surrender to His mercy and grace.
