Galatians 2:21-I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vein.
We often hear, “I am living for the Lord.” When people new to the faith or have just heard of Jesus, what comes to their minds? If most were like me, they would think they had to live a certain way or memorize numerous verses of scripture. They may even think that they would have to perform works for their salvation.
When you read the Word, it corrects us on that kind of thought. We cannot work our way to heaven. We can not memorize enough scripture. We can not live the perfect life. Our works or trying to fulfill the law will not save us.
The answer to our salvation is Jesus. His love, His grace and His righteousness is what fulfills the scriptures and the law. It isn’t about what we can do. It is all about who Jesus is and what He has done.
From here on when you hear, “I am living with the Lord,” remember He first loved us. He sacrificed Himself for us. He chose us and pursued us. We are just reciprocating what we are shown.
