Galatians 2:14 NKJV — But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

At this time the Jewish people regarded the Gentiles poorly. So much so if there was a Gentile woman giving birth, the Jewish people would not help. This act would make the Jewish person unclean. The same could be said about the Gentile person.

God has always had a plan to make a way for all people. This plan was fulfilled with the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus. Peter was being used by God to spread the gospel to the Gentiles. But when he was around Jewish people, he acted differently. This could have had a tremendous negative impact for the Gentile believers. Paul noticed this and confronted Peter. Not an envied task, but he did what was needed.

Church discipline has its place. When we stray from the gospel, God will prompt other followers to speak out. It is necessary because we tend to walk in the flesh, instead of the Spirit. When this happens, we need to be prepared on both sides.

God loves us, and like a human father disciplines his children, God disciplines us. It is a sign of true love. Be blessed.
