Life is a discovery. The joy of childhood and all the newness that we discover everyday. A simple act of walking in the woods and finding a clear, cool stream on a hot summer day. Then the experience of the way your feet cool down and gooseflesh runs up your legs.

Life is overwhelming. The uncertainty of adolescence and the anxiety of discovering the opposite sex. A simple act of walking into class and learning that the most beautiful girl is sitting next to you. The way sweat runs down your face as the heat from the flush runs through your body.

Life is energizing. The birth of your first child and the energy you receive knowing that a life you helped produce depends on you. The way those beautiful trusting eyes look at you. Then the way that the little hand grabs your finger.

Life is worrisome. The first time you watch your child drive out of the driveway, knowing you are no longer in control. Then the way they look at you smile and wave. The heart skips a beat and they are gone.

Life is repetitious. The arrival of your first grandchild. The memory of the first time your child grabbed your finger flashes in your mind. Then the little hand of the infant grabs your finger again. The way the happy memories flood back to your mind.

Life is fleeting. The understanding that your last breathe is near. Then the way you wish you could do it all again.
