Daniel 1:8 NKJV — But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

The beginning of this verse is my favorite. Daniel purposed in his heart… Yes we are saved by grace. Yes when we are saved nothing can take us out of God’s hand. But is that your desire? Do you want to be a person who just makes it into heaven?

These aren’t negative questions. We have the ability to influence the world through Jesus. Our goal should be to take as many people with us as possible. How do we do that?

After our salvation experience, we need to be like Daniel. We need to purpose in our hearts to be and do what Jesus made us for. Daniel did this at an early age and he influenced kings and kingdoms for God.

Purpose in your heart today, to be all God desires for you. Put in the time reading His Word. Listen for His will for you. Then purpose in your heart to do what He has planned for you. You will not regret it!
