James 3:2 NKJV — For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
If you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all. Did you ever hear your mom say that? Bet you did. The problem is though, that is a do what I say not as I do piece of advice. Because we can’t control our tongue.
Yes, it is true. We all are guilty. Some cover that flaw better, but guilty we all are. Why? Because our flesh is full of envy, greed and pride. It is a constant struggle.
Jesus tells us we have to crucify our flesh daily. Crucifixion is an ugly and horrible process. But in order to tame the tongue, and rid ourselves of sin it is a required daily process.
We will never be perfect but we can mature. It takes spending time with Jesus. Read His word and meditate on His sayings. That is the key to growth.
