Philippians 2:3 NKJV — Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Selfish ambition is celebrated in today’s culture. We hear athletes talking about how great they are. We hear politicians talking about how smart they are. There is no where to turn where people aren’t braggadocious.
We are taught through the word, that this isn’t God’s preferred charateristic in Christians. We are to be humble and meek.
In other words be powerful but under control. You ask under control of what? The answer is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit was sent to be our helper. But if we aren’t being humble and under control, how can He help us? The question is then, do you want to resemble Jesus or the worldly culture?
