1 Corinthians 13:11 NKJV — When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Maturity is a long process to accomplish. Even after we think we have matured, immature behavior comes out. Somehow it seems to hang on sometimes. It hides deep inside our flesh. We become prideful and want things our way. We become selfish and want our things. It is hard to mature.
Paul tells us here there is a time we must put away childish things. We need to realize Christ works on us and puts us in situations that helps us to mature. It is sometimes painful and tears are sometimes shed but the process is for our benefit.
The length of the process depends on us. Do we want to humble ourselves and realize He is first? Or do we hold on to fleshly things and behaviors? He will not be second. Christ deserves to be first in every aspect of our lives.
It is past time we put away childish things and become the mature adults He wants us to become. It is sometimes easier said than done, I know. But it is for our benefit and the furtherance of His kingdom. Be blessed!
