James 1:22 NKJV — But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Listening is more than hearing sound. The inflections of a voice, body language and facial expressions tells us more than simple words. Figure these things out and you truly hear a person.

Gods words are full of knowledge. Non-Christians benefit greatly when reading it. But because they don’t know Christ as Savior they do not have true wisdom. Wisdom is putting into practice with the help of God the accumulated knowledge. In other words knowing the inflections, body language and facial expressions from God guides us to hearing Him.

James is pleading with us as Christians to do what the wisdom of God’s words are telling us to do. It is a sign of spiritual maturity.

The first step in the whole process is the one least practiced by Christians. Being in and studying the Word. You can’t use what you don’t know. Ask, seek and knock then you will find!
