John 19:13 NKJV — When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.
Imagine being given power by a government to sit in a seat of judgment. It is not you who has the power but the government that you represent. We have the ability to see this in a courtroom everyday. A judge elected by the people to judge civil and criminal matters.
Pilate sat in the seat of judgment to judge the perfect, sinless son of God. He knew there was no fault in Jesus but gave in to the irate crowd. Subsequently, Jesus was led to the cross.
We do the same when we read the word of God and decide to go another way. Our pride, our will and our flesh override what the Word commands.
We will answer for this before the judgement seat of Christ. We will have to face His judgement. Pray and reflect on what you are commanded to do. Submit to His light yoke. If you do not know him as Lord and Savior, submit to His grace. He endured the jugement for us.
